William "Bill" Campbell, Jr.

Bill Campbell was born on June 9, 1942 in Omaha Nebraska to William Campbell Sr and Ethel Campbell. He then went on to attend and graduated from Harlan High School in 1960. Bill had a deep love for sports that began in high school and enjoyed sharing that passion with his children and grandchildren. Bill”s passion for sports extended into golf and Nebraska football.Bill helped in the canning factory, strawberry patch and sweetcorn field where he grew and sold the produce. This was the beginning of his love of gardening and his salesmanship. Bill and MaryBeth met in the sixth grade in Harlan and began dating their senior year in high school. They married June 15, 1963 and thus began their cross country adventures together. This included Nebraska, Florida, and Colorado and eventually ending back in Harlan, Iowa. Throughout their moves, Bill and MayBeth formed strong friendships that remained over the years.

During their early marriage, Bill and MaryBeth worked side by side balancing her nursing schedule and his travels as a salesman for several grocery companies. Through his years on the road and flights across the country, Bill discovered and developed a love of sales and building relationships with people. He made connections easily and always had that smile when talking. MaryBeth always said he had the ability to “sell ice to an eskimo” and ”Never met a stranger.” During their time in Nebraska, Bill and MaryBeth had four children (Kim, Kelly, Kristy and Kevin). After moving to Florida in the late 1970’s, the family’s love of Pensacola Beach was instilled and grew over the years. It became a special place filled with cherished memories and adding more family friends while welcoming Kasey to the family. Bill’s final sales position was Regional Sales Manager with Comstock Michigan Fruit (midwest and west coast territories) before taking over the Brickyard Orchard.

Bill took over the Brickyard Orchard in 2000 where he could utilize both of his skills: gardening and sales. Bill loved having the elementary children out for field trips sharing his munchkin pumpkins and apple cider with the kids. Papa loved children that love extended from his children, to his grandchildren, to his great grandchildren. Despite all of his medical struggles, Bill had an incredible fight in him and an unwavering will to keep going. He fought so hard because he loved his family and many friends more than anything and wanted to be here with all of us as long as he could be here. Bill passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026, surrounded by his family. He left this world knowing he was deeply loved. Family and friends will continue his legacy of gardening, golf, and will cherish the memories we have made with him.
