Vera Joan Moeller was born to Otto and Marie (Petersen) Paulsen on April 13, 1933, in Denison, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Vera graduated from Denison High School where she met her high school sweetheart, Darrell Moeller. Following graduation, she went on to attend Nursing School at Broadlawns Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa earning her degree in Nursing.
Vera and Darrell Moeller were united in marriage on September 26, 1953, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison, Iowa. To this union, six children were born: Stan, Cindy, Todd, Dan, Tim, and Julie. After their marriage, Vera and Darrell moved to Colorado for a few years before moving back to Denison to raise their children. Vera loved her work as a nurse and spent many years working at Crawford County Hospital. She also spent some time working at Eventide Lutheran Home and Denison Care Center before taking on a home healthcare position.
Vera filled her days with creativity, enjoying crocheting, quilting, knitting, sewing, and many other crafts, often spending hours at the Hobby Shop, where she loved collecting fabrics for future projects. She found joy in baking, working in her garden, and reading, building an impressive collection of books she treasured dearly. Her Catholic faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she prayed the rosary faithfully and was an active member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison. Vera was also an active and enthusiastic member of the Red Hat Society.
Vera passed away peacefully at her home in Denison, Iowa on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, attaining the age of 92 years, 9 months, and 8 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Marie Paulsen and sisters, Aileen Lamb and Janet Kilduff.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Darrell Moeller of Denison, IA; children, Stan (Cindy) Moeller of Hull, IA; Cindy (Paul) Dapra of Gillette, WY; Todd (Tammy) Moeller of Denison, IA; Dan Moeller of Denison, IA; Tim (Christine) Moeller of Omaha, NE; Julie (Richie) Wingfield of Malvern, IA; grandchildren, Matt (Cindy) Moeller, Luke Schmidt, Zach (Megan) Schmidt, Tyler Moeller, Bailey (Jake) Landgraf, Levi (Kaelah) Balmer, Seth Moeller, RaShae Moeller (Kelby Homeister), Skyla Wingfield, Abbey Wingfield, Paige Wingfield; great grandchildren, Sophie and Jack Moeller, Jackson Schmidt, Ryder Schmidt, Otto and Emri Landgraf, Jaxon, Arya, and Kyzer Balmer; other relatives and many friends.
