Rosalund "Rosie" Dee Baumgarten

Mar 3, 1949 — Sep 2, 2026

Rosalund (Rosie) Dee Saltzman Seitzer Baumgarten, age 77, of Ankeny, Iowa, passed away peacefully on September 2 surrounded by family. She was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend whose warmth, bubbly personality, and humor touched the lives of many around her.

Rosalund was born on March 3, 1949 in Bode, Iowa to Ila and Burl Saltzman.

She grew up in Iowa alongside her seven older siblings, where she developed a love for music and bringing people together.

In her earlier years, Rosalund and her parents, Burl and Ila, owned and operated the Lone Pine Inn in Minnesota. There, she worked as a waitress and often sang alongside her brother Larry, who entertained guests at the inn. Her love of music and her outgoing personality quickly became a part of who she was.

Rosalund married her first husband, Michael Paul Seitzer, in 1970. Together, they had four children and built a family that remained at the heart of her life. After Michael's passing, Rosalund later found love again with her second husband, Edward Baumgarten. She was widowed by both of her husbands, but her love for her family remained a constant throughout her life. She devoted much of her life to raising her children and caring for her family, taking great pride in being a mother and, later, a grandmother.

Her love of cooking and bringing people together eventually became part of her work as well. She was the proud owner of Rosie's Pizzeria, where her passion for cooking and baking gave her a place to share something she loved with others.

Rosalund loved to sing and had a natural talent for entertaining others. She yodeled in her younger years and never lost her love of music, especially during karaoke nights with family and friends. One of her favorite songs was "House of the Rising Sun." She was happiest when surrounded by the people she loved, whether she was cooking/ baking, hosting get togethers, traveling, or simply enjoying time with family. Wherever Rosie went, she had a way of creating a sense of community and making people feel at home.

Rosalund is survived by her daughters, Tina Seitzer, Tamra Southard (Randy) and Mary Seitzer (Matt Johnson); her son, Scott Seitzer (Lori); eight grandchildren; and her surviving siblings. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Seitzer, and five siblings.

In accordance with Rosalund's wishes, she will be cremated and no formal service will be held. Her family will gather privately to honor her memory and celebrate her life.
