Donald Bargenquast, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on June 15, 2025, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the age of 87. He was born on April 18, 1938, in Shelby, Iowa, where he would later graduate from Shelby High School in 1956. Following his graduation, he answered the call of duty and served in the Army, reinforcing his unwavering commitment to hard work and dedication. This devotion continued throughout his life, particularly in his career as a plant foreman at Marlor, where he earned respect for his steadfast work ethic and the pride he took in his craft.
Outside of work, Donald found joy in many hobbies and interests, most notably gardening, hunting, and spending time outdoors. These passions mirrored his connection to nature and provided him with countless cherished moments that he often shared with his family.
Donald was a loving and devoted family man, leaving behind his beloved wife, Madge (Martens) Bargenquast of Neola, Iowa. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. He is survived by his children: Scott (Sara) Bargenquast of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania; Roxanne (Greg) Halamek of Blair, Nebraska; Shawn (Pat) Bargenquast of Shelby, Iowa; Robin (Mike) Hammack of Gretna, Nebraska; and Ember (Robb) Lockey of Neola, Iowa. His legacy continues through his six grandchildren: Shelby, Wyatt, Annaka, Ainsley, Noah and Tonya, as well as his two great-grandchildren, Ava and Grace, sisters, Peggy (Dave) Tell of Springfield, Illinois, Patricia Henderson of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and sister-in-law Mary Jane Bargenquast, who will carry his memory in their hearts.
He was predeceased by his mother, Esther Bittle Bargenquast; father, Fritz Bargenquast; and twin brother, Ronald Bargenquast, who now welcome him with open arms.
