David 'Pete' Peters, age 75, passed away on January 7th, 2026, at St. Anthony Nursing Home, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born to LaVern and Evelyn (Savery) Peters on January 5th, 1951, in Denison, Iowa. David attended school in Denison and graduated High School in 1969. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a military policeman from 1971-1973.
He was united in marriage to Joette Molony on May 5th,1974 and they were blessed with three children, Jill, Nicole & Joe. He was a devoted father and found his greatest joy in coaching little league sports and being the loudest supporter for all his kids' various activities. He loved collecting baseball cards and sports memorabilia, playing cards with friends and cheering on his beloved Iowa Hawkeyes. Those who knew him will always remember his one liners and husky voice and the pride he had in his family.
David began his professional career in 1972 at General Electric in the Plastics Fabrication Department. During a 20-year tenure with GE, he worked his way into a manager role. In 1995, he transitioned to Farner-Bocken as a Route Driver and later became the Loss Control Supervisor where he retired in 2016.
David dedicated his life to the military, family, friends, and sports and was known for his iron will and quick wit. He will be forever missed and always remembered. His legacy lives on through the love he gave and the lives he touched.
He is survived by his children, Jill Peters of Carroll, IA; Nicole Peters of Glidden, IA; Joe (Megan) Peters of Waukee, IA; 4 grandchildren, Kailey (Tyler) Bruns, Sadie Groszkrueger, Sloane Peters and Jett Peters; 2 great granddaughters, Aubrie and Chloe Bruns; siblings, Deborah Knowles of Denison, IA; Cathy Jacoby of Denison, IA; Kristine (Bob) Lawson of Georgetown, KY and many other family members and friends who loved him deeply.
He was preceded in death by his parents, LaVern and Evelyn; wife, Joette; siblings, Joe Groth, Mike Groth and Patricia (Groth) Webster and in-laws, Marietta "Etta" Molony and Joe Molony.
Following the services, we will be gathering in fellowship at Majestic Hill Golf Course in Denison to share memories, stories, to laugh, to cry and remember a wonderful person who is greatly missed.
