Colton James Wiederin
Aug 26th, 2016 - Feb. 13th, 2026
Colton was born to Morgan Cook (Wiederin) in Iowa city at the University of Iowa Hospital. In 2020 Joe Cook came into Colton’s life and stepped into the role as Colton’s dad. Colton was the second oldest of six kids.
Colton was born with multiple diagnoses including agenesis of the corpus callosum, colpocephaly, and epilepsy. Colton battled many seizures throughout his life and was a patient at the University of Iowa Stead Family children’s hospital. He was later diagnosed and treated for hemochromatosis due to PIGA mutation.
Colton was born into a Hawkeye loving family. He loved watching the Iowa Hawkeyes play football and basketball. His family always made sure he participated in the wave and because of Colton the Iowa wave meant so much more. He also enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs baseball team with his papa.
Colton attended IKM-Manning from 2019 to 2026. Colton loved interacting with his classmates, going to music class and attending Art class. He loved watching movies, playing with fidgets, listening to music and dancing. He enjoyed spending time with his siblings, cousins and many other family members. Colton enjoyed watching uncle Austin figure 8 race.
Colton was an active member at Central Church in Carroll, Iowa. Colton loved listening to pastor Ryan and would often laugh throughout the church service.
Colton was known for his smile and contagious laugh and knowing how to brighten anyone's day. If there was a time that wasn’t appropriate to laugh, you could always find Colton laughing. A smile and a laugh that will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his parents, Morgan and Joe Cook; siblings: Alyssa Wiederin, Olivia Cook, Conner Cook and Macie Cook; maternal grandparents, Shawn and Kimberly Wiederin; maternal great grandma, Kathy Olson (Richard Greteman); maternal great grandfather, Gary Balk; paternal grandparents, Lisa (Hillary) Rex; paternal great grandparents, Floyed and Cynthia Rex; aunts and uncles: Nicole (Ryan) Kline, Austin (Emma) Wiederin, Michael (Ashley) Chapman, Brianna Varnes and Brandon Varnes; other relatives and many friends.
Colton was reunited in heaven with his sister Madilyn Cook, on Friday, February 13th, 2026. He was also welcomed into heaven with open arms by his Aunt Katelyn Wiederin, Great Grandma Marlys Dettmann, and his Grandpa Richard Cook; cousin Avery Chapman.
