Trent Allen Nielsen, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026 at the age of 40. Trent was born on April 4, 1985, at the Cass County Hospital in Atlantic and died at home with his family. He is survived by his parents, Richard and Vicki Nielsen, his sisters Erin(Doug) Owen of Gretna, Nebraska and Tiffany (Nate) Parrott of Morton, Illinois, his uncle Doug Kostlan of Ames, Iowa, nieces and nephews – Madi and Carter Parrott and Blake and Hailey Owen, his thoughtul and supportive co-workers at Wendy’s, and many more family and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents John and Minnie Nielsen and James and Mary Kostlan, and his best fur buddy, Jasmin, who will meet him at the Rainbow Bridge.

Trent graduated from AHST with the class of 2004. While in school, Trent enjoyed many sports – football, baseball, soccer, basketball, swimming, and track. After graduation, he spent lots of time at the gym and on the golf course until the cancer attacked his body making it difficult to continue.

Trent worked for over 10 years at Fareway, in the meat department, until he was no longer able to endure the hours. The last 2 years he worked at Wendy’s, where he was able to work shorter hours and when he was feeling well enough to work.

Other than a time in remission, Trent battled the cancer, the side effects of the disease, and chemo treatments for the last almost 14 years. Trent fought his battle bravely with every tool available.

Trent will be forever in our hearts with a love that will go on and on and never to be forgotten. May he rest in peace, comfort and most of all no more pain.
