Terri G. Thompson, was born on January 15, 1952, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Gene and Shirley (Schwensen) Quirk. From an early age, Terri exhibited a sharp intellect and an unwavering commitment to excellence. She graduated as Valedictorian from Tri-Center High School in 1970, a testament to her dedication and scholastic prowess. Eager to pursue her passion for healthcare, she attended Iowa Western Community College and earned her degree in Medical Assisting the following year in 1971. Throughout her professional life, Terri served with distinction as a medical assistant, medical transcriptionist, and receptionist. Her warmth and poise also shone through in her role as a tour guide at Mutual of Omaha.

Terri’s talents extended far beyond her vocational achievements. She was a gifted pianist, a talented visual artist, and an animal lover. Terri found joy and companionship in the company of creatures great and small, embodying a gentle spirit that was felt by all fortunate enough to cross her path. Additionally, she cherished dance and music.

Her family and close friends remember her as a compassionate soul who moved with grace through the many seasons of her life. Terri passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Dunlap Assisted Living Center, having attained the age of 74 years, 4 months and 9 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Shirley (Schwensen) Quirk.

She is survived by her beloved sister, Lori, and her husband, Darrell Charlton, of Wheeling, West Virginia; other family and many friends.
