Raymond Harry Beymer was born at Denison, Iowa, June 8, 1935, the son of Carl A. and Isabel M. Storjohann Beymer. He was raised in Denison, receiving his education in the Denison Community Schools. As a teenager he was employed as a pin setter at the old uptown bowling alley in Denison and as a farmhand for area neighbors and relatives. From January of 1952 until being discharged in September of 1953 he was a member of the United States Army National Guard. On July 10, 1955, Raymond was united in marriage with Neva LeAnn Davis at the Church of Christ in Webster City, Iowa. Their union was blessed with three children, Dennis, Connie and Kevin. They made their home in Denison where Raymond was employed with the CC Camp and worked for Jeff Heinz clearing trees for power lines. In the spring of 1957 they moved to a farm near Irwin and farmed there until moving to a farm near Manilla in the spring of 1960. In 1964 they returned to Denison where Raymond began an over twenty year career with IBP and Denison Hyde Company. Following his retirement he was employed part time for Midwest Tennis and Track and Power Wash in Denison. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and collecting tractors. In later life, Raymond was blessed with ten grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren with whom he enjoyed spending time, often calling them at night just to check in, and was greatly grieved at the death of his four year old granddaughter, Kristie Lee Lansink August 8, 1982. Raymond died Monday morning, December 29, 2008 at his home in Denison, Iowa, having been blessed with 73 years, 6 months and 21 days. Including his parents, Carl and Isabel Beymer and his granddaughter, Kristie Lee Lansink, Raymond was also preceded in death by one brother, Carl Beymer and one sister, Marilyn Babbe. Those remaining to cherish his memory include his wife of over 53 years, Neva Beymer of Denison, three children and their spouses, Dennis and Gabriele Beymer of Denison, Connie and Reggy Clinton of Schleswig and Kevin and Tammy Beymer of Denison, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, seven siblings and their spouses Dale and Eleanor Beymer of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Bonnie and Robert Farley of Coggon, Iowa, Richard and Judy Beymer of Eagle, Idaho, Jim and Lois Beymer of Denison, Carole and Russell Stone of Delevan, Illinois, Sue and Duane Miller of Denison and Allen and Joann Beymer of Delevan, Illinois, other relatives and friends.
