Pauline Agnes Botsford was the second of nine children born to Herbert Max and Lucille (Hall) Hahn. She was born on May 3, 1921 in Mapleton, Iowa where she went on to attend school graduating with the class of 1938.After high school, Pauline attended school at Westmar in LaMars, Iowa where she received her teaching certificate.  She returned to Monona County where she taught country school in the Mapleton area for a few years.On September 1, 1962, Pauline was united in marriage to William “Bill” Botsford and made their home in Des Moines.  While here, Pauline worked as a stenographer and administrative assistant to the director of the Soil and Water Conservation Society.  She also operated her own beauty shop for a short time until they moved to a farm in southern Missouri.  They then returned to Iowa and settled in Manning where she worked as a medical transcriptionist.Pauline loved dancing especially to Polka music. While living in Des Moines, she also enjoyed entertaining her nieces and nephews and taking them on tours of the dome at the Iowa Capital Building, different museums and swimming.After the death of Bill, Pauline moved to an apartment in Denison.  She then became a resident of the Denison Care Facility and this is where she died on March 30, 2017 at the age of ninety-five years, ten months and twenty-six days.  In addition to her parents and husband, Pauline was preceded in death by her sister Genevieve “Jenny” Rickert and brothers Norman “Buddy” Hahn and Henry Hahn.She is survived by her sisters and brothers: Juanita Bachmann of Denison, Iowa, Elizabeth Brooks of Colorado, Shirley Bertin of Montana, Herbert “Johnny” Hahn of Omaha, Nebraska and Francis Hahn and his wife Jeanie of Mapleton, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; step-daughter, Connie Calvert of Naples, Florida; two step-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 3, 2017 at the Pfannebecker Funeral Home, Denison, Iowa, with Rev. Ken Fells officiating. Music for the service was recorded selections of “In the Garden” and “I Believe”. Pallbearers were Gary Hahn, Bruce Bachmann, Brian Bachmann, Richard Meyer, Roger Kruse and Robert Hahn. After services, the family invited everyone to join them at Cronk’s Café for a luncheon before burial at Mount Hope Cemetery, Mapleton, Iowa. The Pfannebecker Funeral Home, www.pfannebecker.com , Denison, Iowa, was in charge of arrangements where a visitation was held on Sunday, April 2, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
