Mark Dee Moreland

Mark, age 67, of Kiron, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on April 26, 2025.

He was born on January 12, 1958, in Salina, Kansas to his loving parents, LaDon and J. D. Moreland. Mark grew up in Kansas alongside his three brothers, sharing a childhood full of adventure.

In 1982, he moved to Denison, Iowa where he met the love of his life, Shelley. They were married on May 28, 1986, beginning a beautiful journey together.

Mark spent much of his life on the open road, proudly driving trucks for various transportation companies. Some of his fondest memories were of the summers when his children would join him for a week on the road, making memories that would last a lifetime. Later in his career, he transitioned to working for Smithfield, where he spent ten years shagging trucks before retiring in 2022.

Upon retirement, Mark and Shelley began a new adventure as snowbirds, first traveling to Texas and eventually settling in Yuma, Arizona, where they enjoyed their days in the sunshine.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Shelley; his three brothers Steve, Mike and Brian (Kristy) Moreland; his four children Travis Husted, Tiffany Sexauer, Tristan (Bri) Moreland and Turissa Moreland; and five grandchildren (Trevor, Kaydon, Ellie, Charlie & Walter), all of whom brought great joy to his life.

Mark was a man of many interests. He was a skilled handyman who could fix almost anything and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He had a deep love for classic cars, proudly owning a 1964 Dodge Dart and a 1965 Ford Galaxie convertible, and he enjoyed attending car shows whenever he could. A passionate reader and music lover, Mark also had a fierce loyalty to the Seattle Seahawks. He treasured time spent camping, fishing, and gathering with family and friends, and he especially cherished moments playing with his grandchildren.

Mark will be remembered for his kind and generous spirit, his deep love for his family, and the many lives he touched throughout his journey.

A celebration of life will be held in Denison, Iowa at Boulder’s Event Center on May 3rd from 4-7pm.
