Lorraine Mann
October 19, 1932 — June 18, 2018
Lorraine Mann, daughter of Hull and Avis (Harsh) Childs, was born on October 19, 1932 on the family farm in McClelland, Iowa. Lorraine was baptized and confirmed at Mount Hope Methodist Church in McClelland. She graduated with the class of 1950 from Underwood High School. After graduation, Lorraine attended Iowa State University for two years.
In 1955, Lorraine was united in marriage to Bernie Mann at Broadway Methodist Church in Council Bluffs, Iowa. To this union, two boys were born: Brett and Bruce. She was a very nurturing soul who loved her family more than anything.
Lorraine loved to cook, bake, garden and especially enjoyed golfing. Lorraine taught Sunday School for over 20 years at United Church of Avoca and worked as a manager for the Golf Course Clubhouse for 10 years.
Lorraine passed away on Monday, June 18, 2018 at Select Specialty Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, attaining the age of eighty five years, seven months and thirty days. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister Eloise “Fritz” Ryan.
She has left to cherish her memory, her loving husband of sixty three years Bernie Mann of Avoca, Iowa; two sons Brett Mann and his significant other Michelle Aguilar of Houston, Texas; Bruce Mann of Avoca, Iowa; sister Bernadine Grove of Macedonia, Iowa; brother Carrol Childs of McClelland, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.
