Towne
November 17, 1945 – November 22, 2025
Kenneth Dean Towne, was born in Red Oak, Iowa, on November 17, 1945, to Dale and Florence (Dean) Towne. He was the youngest of six children; Curtis, Jim, Marilyne, Jerry and Orlo. He graduated from Griswold High School in 1964, where he excelled in basketball and cross country.
After high school, Kenny worked at the Griswold Lumber Yard until he was drafted into the US Army in 1965. During his time in the Army, he served in Vietnam in the 1st Cavalry Division. Kenny turned 21 in Vietnam. He was proud to serve his country and a lot of his lifelong friends had also served. He served in the Army until 1967.
After the military, Kenny met his future wife Loraine Hansen, and they were married in June of 1969. They were married for 56 years. They settled in Hancock, where they raised their 5 children; Darren, Andrea, Amy, Darci and Dale.
Kenny spent his career working in packing plants in Nebraska and Iowa. He finished his career at Oakland Foods. He was known for his love of country music and singing his favorite tunes while being in the kitchen.
Kenny enjoyed gardening, watching Iowa Hawkeye sports, playing Sudoku and reading. He had a kind heart and would help anyone who needed it.
On, November 22, 2025, Kenny passed away 5 days after his 80th birthday. He was able to celebrate his birthday at home with Loraine and his children. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Jim; sister Marilyne; son Darren; daughter Darci; son-in-law Casey Turk; and sister-in-law Pam Towne.
He is survived by his wife Loraine; daughters Andrea and Amy; son Dale (Brenda); grandchildren: Patrick, Lauren (Matthew), Kael, Kaden, Dauphine, Brant and Annemarie; brother Curtis (Ruby), Jerry, Orlo (Cheryl); brother-in-law Wayne; other family and many friends.
