Kenneth Larsen

Kenneth Larsen was born on March 16, 1932, in Harlan, Iowa, to Paul and Johanna Larsen. He spent his childhood on the family farm just outside of Harlan and began his education at Monroe Township #3 Country School, attending through the eighth grade. Kenneth later graduated from Harlan High School with the Class of 1949.

On November 16, 1952, Kenneth married the love of his life, Marlene Yvonne Larsen, in Spencer, Iowa. Together, they were blessed with four children: Richard, Juliene, Reed, and Jeanie.

In July 1953, Kenneth proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving his country until July 1955.

Kenneth passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 93 years, 2 months, and 11 days. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Paul and Johanna.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Marlene Larsen of Harlan, Iowa; his children: Richard (Karen) Larsen of California, Juliene Larsen of Idaho, Reed Larsen of Hawaii, and Jeanie (Michael) Maples of Colorado. Kenneth’s legacy lives on through his 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He is also fondly remembered by his nieces: Debbie Christensen Larsen of Iowa, Lanna Mitten (Don) Cain of Missouri, Igleedtis Moore of Colorado, Cherrie (Jim) Wittman of Missouri, and Denise (Clark) Fasching of Texas; and his nephews: Tim (Joan) Christensen and Kevin (Susan) Christensen, both of Nebraska.
