Katie Margarette Sorensen was born on March 23, 1937, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to James Osborn and Frances Ranney. She grew up in Iowa and carried with her the values of hard work, faith, and family throughout her life.

Following her graduation from highschool, Katie married Eugene Sorensen, and together they raised their family with love and devotion. Katie embraced her role as a farm wife, working alongside her husband and contributing every bit as much to the farm’s success as he did. Her determination, resourcefulness, and strong work ethic were central to the life they built together.

Katie was also very active in her community. She was a proud member of the Cow Bells and Pork Auxiliary, where she gave her time and support generously. She had a spirit for adventure and a love of travel, which gave her many special experiences and cherished memories over the years.

Her family was always at the heart of her life. Katie was deeply devoted to her son and took great joy in her three grandchildren, always being present for them with love and support. Her warmth and caring nature touched everyone who knew her.

Katie passed away peacefully at Avoca Specialty Care Nursing Home in Avoca, Iowa attaining the age of 88 years, 6 months and 15 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Frances (Ranney) Osborn and husband, Euguene Sorensen.

She is survived by her son, Edward Sorensen of Walnut, Iowa; 3 grandchildren, Eric Sorensen, Kristen Sorensen and Marc Sorensen; 1 great-grandchild; other relatives and many friends.

Katie will be laid to rest at Layton Township Cemetery in Walnut, Iowa, where her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
