Jo Ann Larsen was born on February 15, 1947 to Leonard and Milda (Errett) Larsen in Harlan, Iowa. She was baptized at the First United Methodist Church and attended the Harlan schools.

She was united in marriage to Tom Petrzilka at her mother’s home in Harlan and later was married to Dale Focken.

Jo Ann worked as a babysitter in her younger years and had worked at Wesco Industries in Denison, Iowa for twenty-three years. She retired in 2011.

She participated in the Iowa Special Olympics, loved to play bingo and go to garage sales, and enjoyed going dancing and listening to country music. She met her boyfriend Jim at church and had been baptized in the Methodist Church on October 27, 2002.

Jo Ann became a resident of the Denison Care Center where she died on Sunday, October 27, 2013, having attained the age of sixty-six years, eight months, and twelve days. She was preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Milda and her stepfather Olin “Buck” Baker.

She is survived by her sisters: Linda Larsen of Omaha, Nebraska and Diana Larsen of Council Bluffs, Iowa; half brothers and sisters: Bill Stuhr of Harlan, Iowa, Deloris Summers of Marshalltown, Iowa, Betty Kroger of St. George, Utah, and Dick Stuhr and his wife Marlene of Houston, Texas; special friend Jim Smith of Denison, Iowa; other family members and friends.

Pastor Darwin Moore officiated the 11:00 AM funeral service on Friday, November 1, 2013 at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa. Music selections were In The Garden, Amazing Grace, and Old Rugged Cross. Inurnment was held at the Jacksonville Cemetery.
