Gregory Robert Becker, age 63, of Avoca, Iowa, passed away on May 16th, 2026. Born on November 19th, 1962, in Columbus, Mississippi, Greg lived a life defined by love, devotion, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to family. Above all else, he was an incredible husband, father, grandfather, and guiding presence to all who were blessed to know him.
Greg graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1988. He met his wife, Teri, in 1982 by circumstance, after a flat tire brought her to the gas station where he was working at on 30th and Dodge in Omaha, Nebraska. From that chance encounter forward, Greg and Teri were inseparable. They were united in marriage on June 17th, 1983, and from that day on, Teri was not only his wife, but his entire universe.
Greg provided for his family throughout a career that spanned 28 years, earning several accolades and awards along the way. While he took pride in his work, his greatest pride was always his family. He built an amazing life centered around his sons and later found tremendous joy in becoming a grandfather. He loved watching his family grow, succeed, and create memories together.
As a father, Greg was a constant and devoted presence. Whether at Camp Cedars in Nebraska or Sea Base in Florida, Greg's sons never went on a Scout trip alone. His dedication, encouragement, and support helped all three of his sons achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. The only aspect of his life that preceded his devotion to his sons' success was his affinity for "dad jokes" and making his family laugh.
He loved working with his hands, and enjoyed tinkering, gardening and woodworking in his leisure time. He could often be found in the backyard, pruning the rose bushes he planted for Teri, or checking on his tomato plants.
Greg is survived by his beloved wife, Teri; his sons, Corey (wife Franci), Jordan (husband Nathan), and Taylor (wife Isabella); his grandchildren, George, Brooks, Teddy, and one on the way; and his brothers, Darren (wife Paula), and Steve (wife Angie) and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his mother Barbara Befort, father Maurice Befort, and mother-in-law Collette Scobee.
Greg's life was a beautiful example of what it means to love deeply, provide faithfully, and build a family legacy that will continue for generations.
