It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our cherished Gloria Walter, who left us on May 30, 2025, at her home in Walnut, Iowa, with her beloved daughter Joanie by her side. She attained the age of 82 years, 7 months and 14 days. Born on October 16, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, Gloria was a beacon of love and kindness throughout her life.
Gloria dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family and all those around her. She worked at Walnut Creek Fertilizer, where she collaborated closely with her husband Chub, serving as his bookkeeper. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and hard work. Gloria was also the proud owner of The Garden Spot, a flower shop that mirrored her vibrant spirit and passion for nurturing beauty.
Her warmth extended beyond her family as she embraced her community with open arms. Gloria found immense joy in attending the community club and cherished memories spending time with her friends in the Card Club. Their favorite gathering place, "The Gardens," became one of the many fond memories nestled in Gloria's heart. She also delighted in fishing trips to Canada, it was the perfect place for treasured moments with family and friends.
Gloria was a nurturing mother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her daughter Joanie Walter of Walnut, Iowa, who continues to carry her mother’s legacy of love and dedication. Gloria's siblings remain close to her memory: Garry (Michelle) Kays of Chicago, Illinois; Kathy Akins of Benton, Arkansas; Dorman Kays of Benton, Arkansas; and Bill Kays of Florida; other family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; and husband, Chub.
