Delores Mae Nordby

Delores Mae (Petersen) Nordby was born in Marne, IA on May 20, 1933 to Clinton and Carrie Petersen.

Delores and her brother Bud were raised in Jacksonville, IA. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville. She attended country school at Jackson #6 and graduated from Harlan High School. Delores worked at the Harlan Telephone Office during her high school years.

On December 19, 1951 Delores was united in marriage to Milo Nordby at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville. Three daughters were born to this union; Pamela, Patricia and Penela.

Delores worked beside her husband on the farm. She also worked at Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn as a therapist for 21 years. Delores retired October of 2006.

Delores enjoyed working in her yard, either mowing, planting flowers or just pulling weeds and raking leaves. She liked listening to music, especially country western, crocheting, crafting and going to the Shelby County Speedway to watch her grandson race.

Delores died May 21, 2026, just one day after her 93rd birthday. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Penny, and her brother Laverne " Bud" Petersen.

Delores is survived by her two daughters; Pam (Tom) Fusselman, Harlan and Patty Ballou, Exira; one grand daughter, Trista (Ryan) McLaughlin, Missouri Valley; five grandsons, Jason (Bre Pauley) Fusselman, Avoca; Dustin (Carol) Fusselman, Atlantic; Clint Jessen, Exira; Rob (DeeDee) Jessen, Ankeny; and Colt (Taylor) Ballou, Lincoln, NE; seven great grand children; Cassidi ( Mike) Larsen, Missouri Valley; Jessica (Ben) Christensen, Kimballton; Emily ( Micheal) Shiffer, Woodbine; Joe Buck, Moorhead;

Taylor Lee Jessen, Atlantic; Levi Jessen, Exira; and HayLee, Ankeny;four great great grand children, Marion, Aleksander, Addysen, Mazie, and two on the way, Owen and Miller; two sister-in-laws; Bernice Petersen, Ankeny and Kay (Dick) Madsen, Lincoln NE; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
