Beulah Pearl Jensen was born on June 3, 1919 to Francis and Nellie (Green) Snyder in Irwin, Iowa. She grew up on a farm near Irwin and attended the Irwin School.
Beulah was united in marriage to Leroy Jensen on August 27, 1944 in the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. There were five children born to them: Lee, Darell, Don, Jamie, and Joanie.
She raised the children, managed the household, and helped her husband on their farm near Elk Horn, Iowa. She enjoyed the outdoors and was known as "The Butterfly Lady" for her love of butterflies.
The couple celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in 1994. Four years later, Leroy died just months after they moved to Atlantic, Iowa.
Beulah continued living in the Atlantic area before she became a resident at the Caring Acres Nursing and Rehab Center in Anita, Iowa. It was there that she died on Friday, January 4, 2013, having attained the age of ninety-three years, seven months, and one day. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leroy, son Jamie, brothers: Dale Snyder and Wayne Snyder; and sisters Cecil Scheuler, Goldie Roberts, and Dorothy Kruse.
She is survived by her children: Lee Jensen and his wife Diana of Bolivar, Missouri, Darell Jensen and his wife Diane of Kimballton, Iowa, Don Jensen and his wife Terri of Kimballton, and daughter Joanie and her husband Jeff Jensen of Atlantic, Iowa; twelve grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; other family members and friends.
Pastor Keith Menter officiated the 1:30 PM funeral service at Elk Horn Lutheran Church in Elk Horn, Iowa. Music was provided by Peggy Doonan and Shon Andersen. Honorary casket bearers were Kristine Brown, Stacie Andersen, Carrie Roskens, Kelly Williams, Melanie Jensen, Crystal Jensen, Mindy Jensen, Julie Soll, and Angie Jensen. Serving as casket bearers were Aaron Williams, Randy Brown, Ronnie Andersen, Shawn Jensen, Tom Roskens, Ryan Jensen, Toby Jensen, Darin Jensen, John Jensen, and Rod Soll. Interment was held at the Elk Horn Lutheran Cemetery.
