Barbara Schueman

Barbara Jean Schueman, daughter of Clarence and Irene Sanders Rock, was born on March 23, 1938, in Avoca, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca. She attended schools in Avoca and graduated with the class of 1956. Following high school, Barb attended Drake University for 2 years.

On January 31, 1959, Barb was united in marriage to John “Diz” Schueman at Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca. To this union they raised 3 children: Roxanne, Tracy and Michael. Barb did the bookkeeping for her husband’s trucking business, John Schueman Trucking, until he passed. Barb was an avid follower of her grandchildren’s activities and watching her great-grandchildren grow. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, reading, cooking, music, and had a love for dogs.

Barb passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, June 22, 2026, having attained the age of 88 years, 2 months and 30 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Irene Rock; husband John “Diz”; sister, Marjorie and husband Logan Danskin; brother Richard “Dick” and wife Carolee Rock; and son-in-law Alan Plymale.

She is survived by her children Roxanne Plymale of Avoca; Tracy (Dave) Wellman of Neola; Michael (Beth) Schueman of Avoca; 5 grandchildren: Reece (Lindsey), Johnni (Danny), Jaycie (Terry), Ben (Erin), and Abby 5 great-grandchildren: Tenley, Burke, Vance, Ophelia and Ozzy; puppy friend Feta, other family and many friends.

A celebration of life will be on July 12, 2026 at 1:00pm at the Avoca Country Club for family and friends!
