Barbara Marie Mckillip

Barbara “Barbi” Marie McKillip, daughter of Louie and Anita (Poleske) Hammer was born February 10, 1965, in Denison, Iowa. She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison and confirmed at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Denison.
Barbi attended Denison High School, where she graduated with the class of 1983. After graduation Barbara took a job as a nanny in Connecticut.
Barbi briefly moved to Omaha, Nebraska and then on July 17, 1998, she married and moved to Iowa City, Iowa. To this union was born three daughters, Lily, Binnie, and Sidnie. While in Iowa City, Barbi worked as a daycare provider. She eventually moved back to Denison to be closer to family.
She was an advocate for animals, enjoyed painting, woodworking, jewelry making, and spending time with family and friends.
Barbara passed away surrounded by family Monday, May 22, 2023, at Bergan Mercy in Omaha, Nebraska. Attaining the age of 58 years, 3 months, and 12 days.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louie and Anita Hammer.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Lily, Binnie, and Sidnie McKillip; sister Rebecca (David) Steinbach; nephew Nathan Steinbach; nieces Natalie and Emily Steinbach; uncle Lee Poleske; and many cousins, family, and friends.
