Armond F. Feauto
March 12, 1922 — January 22, 2013
Armond Francis Feauto was born on March 12, 1922 in Westfield, Iowa to U. R. "Ray" and Marie (Knittle) Feauto. He was the oldest of ten children in the family. He attended Ridge Road Rural Elementary School and graduated from Liberty Township High School in Merrill, Iowa on May 22, 1940. He joined the United States Army on June 16, 1944 and served in the China-Burma-India Theater during WWII. He was honorably discharged on May 14, 1946.
He met Emogene Immens at a dance in Sioux Valley, Iowa and on February 17, 1947 the two were united in marriage at a priest�s house in Worthington, Minnesota. Four children were born to this union: LuJean, Loren, Paul, and Steve.
Armond farmed until 1958, when he and Emogene sold their farm and moved to Sioux City, Iowa. The family spent some time in Lake Park and Glenwood before eventually moving to Oakland, Iowa where Armond began working for American Beef Packers. He retired in 1984, when American Beef Packers closed, and he and Emogene managed the hotel in Avoca for the next few years.
Armond enjoyed golfing, woodworking, and he took pride in working on his own vehicles and fixing anything he could. He enjoyed watching Notre Dame football and he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was an active volunteer at St. Mary�s Catholic Church in Avoca, and he was also involved with the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Oakland American Legion and the local VFW and volunteered to help with many funerals and parades.
Armond died on Saturday, January 12, 2013 in Omaha, Nebraska having attained the age of ninety years and ten months. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of almost 66 years, Emogene, who died on January 6, 2013, an infant son Loren, and three brothers: Leo, Richard, and Edward.
He is survived by his children: LuJean Feauto of Omaha, Nebraska, Paul Feauto and his wife Connie of Papillion, Nebraska, and Steve Feauto and his wife Nancy of Oakland, Iowa; three grandchildren; five step-granchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; his brothers: Bernard Feauto and his wife Marilyn, Eugene Feauto and his wife Sue, Douglas Feauto and his wife Betsye, Earl Feauto and his wife Lonnie, and Robert Feauto and his wife Carol; his sister, Shirley and her husband Dick Matt; and a sister-in-law Bernadine Feauto; other relatives and friends.
Rev. Tom Dooley officiated the 10:30 am Mass of Christian Burial for Armond and Emogene on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at St. Mary�s Catholic Church in Avoca. Honorary pallbearers were: Ryan Feauto, John Smith, Brandon Brink, Don Larson, Tom King, and Terry Feauto. Military rites were conducted by the Fred Funston American Legion Post No. 227 at Graceland Cemetery in Avoca.
