Allen Dale Bledsoe was born on June 6, 1961 in Sikeston, MO. He grew up in Omaha, NE. He graduated from the Archbishop Ryan High School in 1979. Al joined the United States Navy in 1981 and was stationed on the USS New Jersey. He was passionate about his assignments and military service but was injured on the ship and was honorably discharged in 1984. Allen was very proud of his military service and truly respected the sacrifices that all veterans and active duty military make to serve our country.
His next career was working for the United States Post Office. He retired from the Post Office in 1994. With retirement, he desired to move closer to his parents and find a quieter life out of the big city. He relocated to Corley, IA while looking for a piece of land he could call his own which he found in Walnut, IA.
Al found a true partner in Jean and they were married in 2001. He enjoyed many of the simpler pleasures of living in the country: feeding and watching the birds, playing with his beloved Toby, smoking meat (anything related to cooking and eating), a good garage sale and visiting some of the other small towns throughout Iowa to find hidden treasures. He also enjoyed a healthy debate regardless of the topic.
Al was blessed to spend his final days in his home with his beloved service dog, Toby and his wife by his side and on Thursday, July 30, 2026, Al passed away peacefully at his home in Walnut, Iowa, attaining the age of 65 years, 1 month and 24 days.
He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Stella and Larry Morfeld; sister, Jayne Bledsoe and nephew, Andy Valenzuela. He is survived by his wife, Jean Bledsoe of Walnut, IA; children, Corey (Michelle) Bledsoe of Killeen, TX, Lacy (Matt) Jareske of Omaha, NE, Brittney (David) Knutson of Harlan, IA; parents, Hollis and Mary Bledsoe; grandchildren; one great grandchild; siblings, Cynde McCall (Sam Barajas) of Omaha, NE, Patricia (Goodmond) Danielsen of Council Bluffs, IA; service dog, Toby; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
