Ramona Yates

February 9, 1939 - March 8, 2022

Ramona Agnes Olson Yates daughter of Art and Leana (Windeshausen) Olson, was born February 9, 1939 in Panama, Iowa. She was the 11th of 14 children. Monie grew up in Harlan, Iowa and later moved to Glenwood in 1957 when she married Donald L. Yates. They had 8 children together. Throughout her years living in Glenwood, Ramona was a stay at home mother, worked at the family restaurant, Unitog Corporation and later moved back to Harlan in 1989 to be close to family. With the kids grown, her time in Harlan was spent with visits from her children and grandchildren, family and friends playing cards, camping, fishing, working at Myrtue Memorial Hospital and later home care services until her full retirement. She moved to Council Bluffs in February 2020 to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Ramona passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2022. She was proceeded in death by her parents Art and Leana Olson, and siblings Viola Baker; Theresa Porter; Gladys Miller; Ethyl Eskov; Leo Olson; Arthur Olson; Elaine Page; Walter Olson; Ole Olson and Karen Scheffler. She is survived by her children John (Denise) Yates of Glenwood, IA; Rick Yates of Glenwood, IA; Mike Yates of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Donnie Yates of Glenwood, Iowa; Jim Yates of North Richland Hills, TX; Tim Yates of Glenwood, Iowa; Lisa (Scott) Ertle of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Darrell (Michele) Yates of Gig Harbor, WA; surviving siblings Marilyn (Fairl) Johnson of Harlan, IA; Kenny Olson of Harlan, IA; Richard (Sue) Olson of Harlan, IA; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
