Ronald W. Van Horn - Age 77
Ronald
"Tadpole" Wayne Van Horn was born on May 4,
1931, to O. L. And LaRue (Lunsford) Van Horn in
Cantril, Iowa. He was baptized in Elk Horn,
Iowa, and attended elementary school in
Drakeville, Iowa. He graduated from Bloomfield
High School in Bloomfield, Iowa.
Ronald was inducted into the United States Army
on May 8, 1952 and served during the Korean War.
He was honorably discharged from the military on
August 29, 1952.
He was united in marriage to Joyce Irelan on
February 23, 1953 in Bloomfield, Iowa. Four sons
were born to this union: Gary, Dennis, David,
and Ronald.
Ronald began a career in road construction and
spent over forty years in the business. He was a
member of the Operating Engineer Local 234 and a
member of the Disabled American Veterans in
Atlantic, Iowa.
He continued to live in the Walnut, Iowa, area
after his retirement in 1995. He was admitted to
the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic,
Iowa, on February 13, 2009 and it was there that
he died on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, having
attained the age of seventy-seven years, nine
months, and fourteen days. He was preceded in
death by his parents and his sister Betty.
Ronald is survived by his wife Joyce Van Horn of
Walnut, Iowa; his sons: Gary Van Horn and his
wife Joyce of Oakland, Iowa, Dennis Van Horn and
his wife Diane of Peyton, Colorado, David Van
Horn and his wife Judy of Underwood, Iowa, and
Ronald Van Horn and his wife Angel of Topeka,
Kansas; eleven grandchildren; five
great-grandchildren; his brothers: Victor Van
Horn and his wife Anita of Des Moines, Iowa,
Charles Van Horn and his wife Carol of Trear,
Iowa, Lowell Van Horn and his wife Donna of
Decorah, Iowa, and Larry Van Horn and his wife
Shelva of Guthrie Center, Iowa; his
sister-in-law Linda Crisafi of Walnut; other
family members and friends.
A private service will be held at a future date
for his family. 
Bobette "Bobbie" Rose Voggesser
- Age 81
Bobette "Bobbie" Rose Voggesser,
daughter of Robert Marion and Ruby Elizabeth Clark Hagood,
was born on May 23, 1929 in Oakland, Iowa. "Bobbie" was
baptized at the Sharon Church in Oakland and attended school
in Oakland where she graduated from Oakland High School.
After high school, "Bobbie worked as a secretary at the Don
Epperly Insurance Company and Jones, Cambridge and Carl Law
Firm, both in Atlantic, Iowa.
On April 30, 1949, "Bobbie" was united in marriage to
Paul Mathias Voggesser at the Little Brown Church in the
Vale. Five children were born to this union: James Robert,
Gary Lee, Lu Anne, Lisa Lyn and Christopher Paul.
In 1949, she became a full time mother and housewife.
She was dedicated to her children and her primary focus was
on home and family - in her words "My whole life was my
kids, grandkids and great-grandkids." The love she had for
her husband was represented in all she did for her children
and the support she gave Paul on the farm.
Bobbie enjoyed gardening, sewing, oil painting,
knitting and crocheting. She also found time to volunteer
through the community church and school organizations.
Bobbie died at Cass County Memorial Hospital Home
Care/Hospice in Atlantic, Iowa on December 29, 2010 having
attained the age of eight-one years, seven months and six
days. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son
James Robert Voggesser.
She is survived by her husband Paul Mathais Voggesser
of Hancock, Iowa; her children: Gary Lee Voggesser of
Minneaplis, Minnesota; Lu Anne and her husband Jim Nielsen
of Granger, Iowa, Lisa Lyn and her husband Dean Hanson of
Brooklyn New York and Christopher Paul Voggesser and his
wife Sarah of West Des Moines, Iowa; twelve grandchildren;
ten great-grandchildren, and daughter-in-law Mary Voggesser
of Loveland, Colorado; nieces and nephews; other relatives
and friends.
Pastor David Krueger officiated the 10:30 A.M. funeral
service at Peace United Church of Christ in Walnut, Iowa on
Tuesday, January 4, 2011. Honorary casket bearers were Corey
Voggesser, Garrit Voggesser, Tyler Voggesser, Tobin
Voggesser, Jerod Hockensmith and Zachary Hascall. Interment
was held in Oak Hill Cemetery in Hancock, Iowa with Ryan
Voggesser, Andrew Voggesser, Timea Voggesser, Jackie Carter,
Adrienne Wells, Dristen Wells, Amanda Pyburn, Ashlee Hanson,
Malcolm Hanson, Gracyn Voggesser, Kellan Voggesser, Hudson
Voggesser, Emerson Voggesser, Addison Voggesser and Elijah
Pyburn serving as casket bearers.

Paul
M. Voggesser - Age 84
Paul Mathias Voggesser
was born on July 30, 1926, to Mathias and Helene (Koch)
Voggesser in Audubon, Iowa. He attended Atlantic Community
Schools in Atlantic, Iowa, although he would say he was also
a student in real life at the School of Hard Knocks.
Paul enlisted in the United States Navy on August 18,
1944 and was honorably discharged from military service on
June 19, 1946.
He worked for Scyberts in Atlantic until 1949, when he
was united in marriage on April 30th to Bobette
"Bobbie" Hagood at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in
Nashua, Iowa. The couple became parents to five children:
James, Gary, Lu Anne, Lisa, and Christopher. Paul began
farming with Bobbie’s dad and raising feeder cattle.
He was a member of the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association and
the local Farm Bureau. He served on the Walnut Community
School Board, the Peace Haven Association, and the Avoca
American Legion Post No. 227.
Paul loved the family life, the family farm, and
raising his children. He and Bobbie kept their focus on
their home and family and thoroughly enjoyed their
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He retired in 1995 and continued to live on the family
farm in Hancock, Iowa. He died in Des Moines, Iowa on
Tuesday, July 19, 2011, having attained the age of
eighty-four years, eleven months, and nineteen days. He was
preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bobbie, son
James, sister Dorothy, and brothers Leo and Max.
Paul is survived by his children: Gary Voggesser of
Minneapolis, Minnesota, Lu Anne and her husband Jim Nielsen
of Granger, Iowa, Lisa and her husband Dean Hanson of
Brooklyn, New York, Christopher Voggesser and his wife Sarah
of West Des Moines, Iowa and daughter-in-law Mary Voggesser
of Loveland, Colorado; twelve grandchildren; ten
great-grandchildren; brothers Robert Voggesser of Atlantic,
Iowa, Harold Voggesser and his wife Marge of Bolivar,
Missouri, Roy Voggesser and his wife Ann of Denison, Iowa;
and sisters-in-law Betty Voggesser of Avoca, Iowa and
Roselynn Voggesser of Maryville, Missouri; other family
members and friends.
Pastor Steve Lewis officiated the 10:30 AM funeral
service on Friday, July 22, 2011 at Peace United Church of
Christ in Walnut, Iowa. Honorary casket bearers were Paul’s
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Serving as casket
bearers were Paul Harder, Charles "Chuck" Zuch, Loren Lyman,
Dave Rapp, David Voggesser, and Randy Lane. Military Rites
were conducted by the American Legion Post No. 227 at Oak
Hill Cemetery in Hancock, Iowa.
