Ryan M. Nash -
Age 38
Ryan
Mitchell Nash, the son of Gary and Linda Timberman Nash, was born on
December 22, 1968 at Cass County Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa and was
baptized at the Oakland Methodist Church. He attended school in Walnut.
While growing up, Ryan belonged to both the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts;
was a member of 4-H; played football in high school and was a member and
an officer of the Walnut FFA. After graduating with the Class of 1987,
Ryan attended Iowa Western Community College and attained his Associate
Degree in Ag Science.
Ryan, who always wanted to farm, started farming with his dad using the
equipment bought from his grandfather, along with raising hogs. Ryan was
united in marriage to Julie Baxter on July 30, 2005 at the Walnut
Presbyterian Church in Walnut, Iowa. Ryan was proud of his Classic '57
Chevy pick-up that he displayed in car shows and many parades. He was
one of the founding members of the Walnut Optimist Club where he cooked
at the car show for several years. He was also a member and officer of
the Shelby County Pork Producers and cooked at the State Fair for many
years.
In January 2006 Ryan was diagnosed with Sarcoma and continued to farm
when he was able. Ryan enjoyed snowmobiling, playing in a pool league
and hunting with his relatives and friends. He loved to fish and enjoyed
many trips to Canada. Ryan's last adventure was a ten day trip to Bahia,
Brazil where he explored a land and farming investment. It was the
highlight of his farming career.
Ryan died on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at Myrtue Memorial Hospital in
Harlan, Iowa having attained the age of thirty-eight years, four months
and twenty-three days. He is preceded in death by his maternal
grandfather, Dick Timberman and his paternal grandfather, Ross Nash.
Survivors include his wife, Julie Nash; parents, Gary and Linda Nash,
all of Walnut, Iowa; brother Kasey and his wife Carrie Nash; nephews:
Collin Thomas Nash and Cade Ryan Nash all of Ralston, Nebraska; his
grandmothers: Neuonia Timberman of Oakland, Iowa and Maxine Nash of
Walnut, Iowa; other relatives and numerous friends.
A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 1:30 PM at
the Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca, Iowa with Pastor David Krueger
as the clergy. Serving as casket bearers were Kasey Nash, Dean Nash,
Allan Sievers, Steve Skow, Devin Moeller, Gary Plagmann and Adrian
Griffith. Interment was held in the Monroe Township Cemetery, rural
Walnut, Iowa.
Stephanie "Sissy" Nash
- Age 20
Stephanie "Sissy" Nichole Nash, the daughter of David and
Christine Sanborn Nash, was born on Easter Sunday, April 7, 1985, in Sun
Valley, California. She attended school in Iowa and was a high school
cheerleader. She received her High School Equivalency Diploma on
February 1, 2005 and had applied to medical school.
Stephanie was the mother to two beautiful children: her son, Dakota
James Golden who was born on February 17, 2004 and her daughter,
Samantha Christine Izroa Elizabeth Sanborn who was born on May 5, 2005.
She was employed at the Dunlap Livestock Auction in Dunlap, Iowa. She
had touched many lives in her short twenty years and had a heart of
gold. She was a good cook and enjoyed writing poems. Stephanie enjoyed
doing community service and donated her time to the animal shelter.
Stephanie died in an automobile accident on Tuesday, November 15, 2005
having attained the age of twenty years, seven months and eight days.
She is preceded in death by her father, David Nash.
Survivors include her children: Dakota Golden and Samantha Sanborn; her
mother, Christine Nash of Harlan, Iowa; her brothers and sisters:
Michelle Nash, David Nash, Jr, Sheila Nash and William Nash all of
Sacramento, California; her maternal grandparents: Alfred Sanborn and
his wife, Juanita of Torrance, California and Maternal Great
Grandparents: Izroa Durham of Elk Horn, Iowa, other relatives and many
friends.
Memorial services were held on Friday, November 18, 2005 at 11:00 AM at
the Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa with Rev. Jeff Erlemeier
serving as the clergy.

Pearle A. Nelson - Age 83
Pearle Anna Nelson, the daughter of Clarence M. and Anna
D. Petersen Jensen, was born on June 8, 1920 in Shelby County, Iowa. She was
baptized and confirmed at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville,
Iowa. Pearle attended school at Jackson Township No. 1 in Jacksonville,
Iowa.
On February 23, 1940, Pearle was united in marriage
to Arnold Nelson. After their marriage, Pearle and Arnold farmed near
Kimballton, Iowa. After her husband’s death in 1967, Pearle moved into
Kimballton and worked at the Kimballton Furniture store for many years.
She was an active member of the Bethany Lutheran
Church in Kimballton for many years. Pearle loved flowers and plants and had
many displayed at her home. She was a very meticulous person and kept an
immaculate yard and house. She enjoyed her bird collection and had many
porcelain figurines. Her nieces and nephews were very important to her. In
April of 2002, she moved into the Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn, Iowa.
While a resident there, Pearle enjoyed having company and loved to visit.
Pearle died on Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at the
Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn, Iowa, having attained the age of
eighty-three years, eight months, and twenty-five days. In addition to her
parents and her husband, Arnold, she was preceded in death by her brothers,
Russell, Robert and Virgil. Survivors include many nieces and nephews; a
sister-in-law, Rhonda Jensen of Kimballton, Iowa; other relatives and many
friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 6,
2004, at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Kimballton, Iowa, at 10:30 A.M. with
Pastor Kevin Nelson officiating. Interment was in Bethany Cemetery in
Kimballton, Iowa, with Allan Andersen, Gary Jensen, Robert Jensen, Kjer
Christensen, Paul C. Christensen, Tim Fredericksen, David McDermott, and
Donald Madsen serving as casket bearers.
Pearl I. Nelson - Age 91
Pearl Irene Nelsen, the daughter of Clarence C. and
Nora Alice Pearl Smith Cunningham, was born on December 6, 1912 on a farm
northeast of Shelby, Iowa. She attended country school her first year
northeast of Shelby and later attending second through eleventh grade at the
Shelby Consolidated School in Shelby.
On November 23, 1933, Pearl was united in marriage
to Harvey Nelsen at the Harlan Methodist parsonage. After their marriage
they started farming in Pottawattamie County. Two sons and one daughter were
born to this union. After nine years, they purchased a farm northeast of
Shelby, where they farmed for twenty-seven years. In 1969, they retired and
sold the farm and made their home in Harlan. They remained at their home
until moving to the Westridge Apartments in Harlan in August 2001. Pearl and
Harvey celebrated their 68th Wedding Anniversary on November 23,
2001.
Pearl was a member of the Shelby Lutheran Church
until she moved to Harlan where they joined the First United Methodist
Church and was a member of the Builders Class. She was also a member of the
Silver Creek Social Society, Neighborhood Club, northeast of Shelby, and the
Rebecca Lodge in Shelby. Pearl was a homemaker and loving mother. She
enjoyed her home, garden and houseplants as well as cooking and baking for
her family. Her cookies were always enjoyed by her grandchildren.
Pearl died on September 2, 2004, at the Avoca
Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Avoca, Iowa having attained the age of
ninety-one years, eight months and twenty-seven days. In addition to her
parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey who died on May 3,
2002, and two sisters: Ethel Delph and Vera Krohn.
Pearl is survived by her children: Melvin Nelsen
and his wife, Myrna, of Shelby, Iowa; Norman D. Nelsen and his wife, Sandy,
and Darlene and her husband, Wayne Arnold, all of Harlan, Iowa; nine
grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one sister, Gladys Sams of
Avoca, Iowa, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held 1:30 P.M., Monday,
September 6, 2004, at the United Methodist Church in Harlan, Iowa, with Rev.
Ed Frank officiating. Interment was held in the Harlan Cemetery, Harlan,
Iowa with Ronald Krohn, Gary Sams, Darrell Krohn ,Donna Larsen, Alice Jean
Shriver, Allan Sams, Evelyn Foster and Lois Delph serving as honorary casket
bearers and Brian Arnold, Bob Harmsen, Steve Nelsen, Dan Nelsen, Clay Dille,
David Andersen, Kenneth Berg and Allan Ickes serving as casket bearers.
Thelma I. Nelson -
Age 88
Thelma Izora
Nelson, daughter of Hjalmer and Isabel (Nelson) Wiig, was born on March
10, 1919, south of Irwin, Iowa. She attended school in Irwin and
graduated with the Class of 1937.
After
graduation, she moved to Oxford, Pennsylvania, with her parents, two
sisters, and one brother. They lived there for eighteen months then
returned to Iowa. That winter, she helped with housework and meals for a
farm couple, Chris and Christina Nelson. Their son, Melvin Nelson, came
home one weekend for a visit, met Thelma, and they fell in love. A year
later, on December 25, 1939, Thelma and Melvin were united in marriage
at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church south of Irwin.
In the
spring, they moved to a farm six miles north of Walnut where their
children, Jerry Lee and Julie Dianne, were born. After a few years, they
moved to Irwin where Melvin was a carpenter. Later they moved to Harlan.
Thelma enjoyed her role as wife, mother, and grandmother. Melvin passed
away May 17, 1981. Thelma continued living in her home until she entered
Elm Crest Retirement Community in April of 2001 and lived there until
her death on June 19, 2007. She had attained the age of eighty-eight
years, three months, and nine days. She was preceded in death by her
husband Melvin Nelson, her parents, three infant brothers and one infant
sister.
Thelma is
survived by her son Jerry Nelson and his wife Lois of Council Bluffs,
Iowa, and her daughter Julie French of Omaha, Nebraska; nine
grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild;
her brother Hilmer Wiig and his wife Glendeen of Bancroft, Nebraska; her
sisters: Dolores Mickelson of Harlan, Iowa, and Gloria and her husband
Carroll Kallevig of Irwin, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other family members,
and friends.
A
funeral service was held on Thursday, June 21, 2007, beginning at 1:00
PM at Grace Baptist Church in Harlan. Pastor Greg White officiated the
service. Casket bearers were David Nelson, Doug Nelson, Eugene Mericle,
Chris Von Mende, Chris Scelonge, Vince Brandts and Brian Ferguson with
interment held at the Harlan Cemetery.
Henry R. Neve - Age 91
Henry
Robert Neve, the son of Henry J. and Anna C. Hinrichsen Neve, was born
in Shelby, Iowa on January 13, 1917. He attended town school in Avoca
until the seventh grade and at the age of fourteen went to work with
Fritz Oehlertz on his farm, living with him and doing day work. A short
while later he started working for George Lippold and then for
twenty-two years worked for George's brother, Dan. He also worked for
Loring Lippold for many years.
Henry never married, saying that, "I just never found a women that I
liked well enough." Through the years Henry has always like putting
together jigsaw puzzles. When Henry lived at Peace Haven, the small room
where the tea parties are held was covered with Henry's works of art.
Henry died on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at the Oakland Manor Nursing Home
in Oakland, Iowa having attained the age of ninety-one years, two months
and fourteen days. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers
and sisters: Melvin Neve, Milton Neve, Marie Headlee, Linda Renfeld,
Anna Neve, Helen Tennigkeit, Cora Purdy, Edwin Neve and Ella Osbahr.
Survivors include his brothers: Milo Neve and his wife Glenola of
Council Bluffs, Iowa and Eldene Neve of Seattle, Washington; his
sisters: Marjorie Neve and Frances and her husband Warren Brainard, all
of Coal City, Illinois; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many
friends.
Funeral Services were held on Monday, March 31, 2008 at 2:00 PM with
Pastor Dennis Reich as the clergy and Wayne Paulsen as the eulogist.
Honorary Casket bearers were Clarence Renfeld, Claude Pope, John
Schuning and Larry Lippold. Serving as casket bearers were Andy Willett,
Greg Neve, Dean Willett, Dave Pope, John Renfeld and Terry Lippold.
Interment was held at the Graceland Cemetery, Avoca, Iowa.
Barbara M. Newland - Age 89
Barbara Marie Newland, the daughter of Peter and Christena Huebner
Arkfeld, was born on July 5, 1916 in Panama, Iowa. Barbara was baptized
and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Panama, Iowa. She
attended country school near Panama, Iowa until the eighth grade. After
receiving her education, Barbara assisted families in the area when new
born babies arrived.
She was united in marriage to Pat Newland on April 19, 1939 in St.
Mary’s Catholic Church in Panama, Iowa. They were the parents of seven
children: Lanny, Danny, Sherry, Terry, Marsha, Marlow and Roxann. After
their marriage, they farmed near Portsmouth, Iowa for several years.
Barbara kept busy helping on the farm, keeping books for them and also
dispatching trucks.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Portsmouth, Iowa.
Barbara enjoyed crafts and quilting. Her husband died on April 21, 1997.
After his death, she became a resident of Elm Crest Retirement Community
in Harlan, Iowa on February 9, 2000.
It was there that she died on Thursday, December 22, 2005, having
attained the age of eighty-nine years, five months, and seventeen days.
In addition to her parents, and her husband, Barbara was preceded in
death by her brothers and sister: Albert and Herbert Arkfeld and
Josephine Smith; two grandchildren: Larry and Jerry Newland and one
great-grandchild: Cody Pitts.
Survivors include her children: Lanny Newland and his wife, Monica of
Persia, Iowa; Danny Newland and his wife, Marilyn of Council Bluffs,
Iowa; Sherry and her husband, Louis Heller of Defiance, Iowa; Terry
Newland and his friend, Bobby of Omaha, Nebraska; Marsha and her
husband, Derald Carter of Defiance, Iowa; Marlow Newland and his wife,
JoNae of Blair, Nebraska; Roxann and her husband, Dan Corum of Council
Bluffs, Iowa; twenty-two grandchildren: twenty-eight
great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Mass of Christian Burial was concelebrated on Tuesday, December 27, 2005
at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in
Portsmouth, Iowa with Rev. Robert Hoefler as the celebrant and Rev. John
Dorton as the concelebrant. Serving as casket bearers were Bret Carter,
Barry Heller, Rick Newland, Corey Newland, Todd Newland and Brand
Newland. Interment was held in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Portsmouth, Iowa.
Helen B. Nielsen - Age 95
Helen
Bernice Nielsen was born on March 31, 1912 to Raymond and Myrtle (Hunt)
Tryon in Defiance, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at Defiance
Christian Church and remained a member there until 1925, when she became
a member of Defiance Evangelical Church. Helen attended all twelve years
of schooling at Defiance Consolidated School. She graduated from high
school with the Class of 1930.
Later that same year, she was united in marriage to Albert Hulsebus in
Harlan, Iowa. Two sons were born to this union: James and Kenneth. After
her marriage, she owned and operated a produce station in Defiance until
1937, when she bought and operated the general store in Cooper, Iowa
where she also provided teachers with room and board. She belonged to
the Cooper Methodist Church until 1949.
She spent six years as the bookkeeper at Ellerbrock’s Dress Shop, which
was a good fit for her. Helen was very talented as a seamstress and made
a lot of her sister’s clothes. She also crocheted and knitted.
In 1958, she became employed at the Commercial Bank of Carroll as a bank
teller and joined the Carroll Methodist Church. Helen retired in 1971
after the death of her husband. When her son Kenneth died in March of
1983, she didn’t hesitate to help raise his children.
Helen was married to Alfred Nielsen on April 21, 1975, in Carroll, Iowa,
until his death twenty years later. Regardless of what life threw her
way, she kept her positive attitude and continued to work hard. She did
enjoy her hobbies when she had free time and wrote poetry, painted, and
played cards with friends. She was a great cook and shared that talent
with many family and friends. Helen never thought of herself and will be
remembered as the rock of her family and community.
Helen moved to the Clearwater, Florida, to be closer to her son, James.
It was in Madeira Beach, Florida, where she died on February 22, 2008,
having attained the age of ninety-five years, ten months, and twenty-two
days. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Albert
Hulsebus and Alfred Nielsen, her son Kenneth, grandson Gary Hulsebus and
granddaughter Michelle Hulsebus, brothers Raymond, Clarence, and James
Tryon, and sister Nona Mae Densmore.
Helen is survived by her son James Hulsebus and his wife Nancy of
Madeira Beach, Florida, four grandchildren: Michael, Patti, Stephen, and
Thomas Hulsebus; four great-grandchildren: Gary, Christopher, and Kelli
Hulsebus and Curtis Sawyer, one great-great-grandchild, Serenity
Hulsebus; other family members, and friends.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Pauley Jones
Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa. Pastor Keith Pals officiated the 10:30 AM
service with interment at Union Township Cemetery in Defiance, Iowa.
Serving as casket bearers were: Mike Hulsebus, Frank Jorgenson, Steve
Hulsebus, Jim Tryon, Dale Tryon, and Ron Tryon.
Inez I. Nielsen - Age 76
Inez Irene Nielsen was born on July 26, 1930 on the family farm
southwest of Avoca. She was the youngest of four children born to Harry
and Edith (Wasser) Pond. She attended Pleasant Township #5 country
school and graduated from Shelby High School with the class of 1948.
Following high school, Inez worked at the Avoca State Bank.
Inez was united in marriage to Vernon Nielsen on April 14, 1950 at the
Congregational Church in Avoca, Iowa. Later that same year they moved to
Riverton, Wyoming and relocated several times because of Vernon's road
construction jobs. They were the parents of two daughters: Sharon and
April. They moved back to Iowa in 1954, living in Harlan, Cherokee and
then resettling in Avoca in 1956. Inez started working at the East
Pottawattamie County Courthouse in Avoca after her daughters were of
school age. She worked in the clerk's office then at the Sheriff's
office in Avoca and the Pottawattamie County Sheriff's office in Council
Bluffs, Iowa after the Avoca courthouse closed. She retired in 1989
after twenty-five years with the Sherriff's Department.
Inez was a member of the United Church of Avoca. She enjoyed a busy life
with many activities including gathering with the family, friends and
community; sewing, crafts, gardening, camping, traveling, researching
family history and hosting family celebrations in her home.
Inez died at the Creighton Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska on
Wednesday, February 7, 2007. She had attained the age of seventy six
years, six months and twelve days. Besides her parents, Inez was
preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon, in 1985.
Inez is
survived by her husband, Vernon, of Avoca; her daughter, April Nielsen
and her husband, Tom Bauch, of Chetek, Wisconsin; two grandchildren,
Angelene and Jacob Bauch; two sisters: Eleanor Graves and Margaret
Nielsen and her husband, Eugene, all of Harlan, Iowa; one brother,
Maurice Pond of Omaha, Nebraska; many nieces and nephews, other
relatives and friends.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at 1:30 PM at
the United Church of Avoca with Rev. Nancy Ross-Hullinger as the clergy.
Serving as casket bearers were Jacob Bauch, Gary Nielsen, Jason Kenney,
Simon Nielsen, Curtis Nielsen and Ethan Nielsen. Interment was held in
Graceland Cemetery, Avoca, Iowa.
Judith A. Nielsen -Age 61
Judith Ann Nielsen, the daughter of Kenneth Eugene and Madelyn (Dool) Brown
was born on October 28, 1944, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was baptized and
confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Hancock, Iowa. Judith attended
school in Oakland and graduated with the class of 1962.
Judith was united in marriage to
Kenneth Nielsen on March 30, 1963, at the United Methodist Church in
Hancock, Iowa. They were the parents of two children: Jeffrey and Sherry.
Judith worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Grulke for several years and in
the kitchen at the Villager Restaurant. She was the co-owner of the feed
store business, Walnut Farm Supply, in Walnut, Iowa. She was a great cook
and a very hard worker. She enjoyed going out to eat and spending time with
her children, grandchildren and friends. Her favorite pastimes were going to
the casinos and shopping. Judith was a current member of the Peace United
Church in Walnut and a past member of the Hancock United Methodist Church.
Judith died on Friday, September
1, 2006, at her home in Walnut, Iowa, having attained the age of sixty-one
years, ten months and four days. In addition to her parents, she is preceded
in death by her granddaughter, Jennifer Sandbothe.
Survivors include her children:
Jeffrey Nielsen and his wife Pam of Walnut, Iowa, and Sherry Sandbothe and
her friend, Keith Chase of Red Oak, Iowa; three grandchildren: Eric
Sandbothe and his fiancé Amy Weihs, Bailey Nielsen and Hunter Nielsen and
one great grandson, Kolby Weihs; two brothers: Rick Brown of Hancock, Iowa
and Steve Brown of McCook, Nebraska; other relatives and many friends.

Wayne Eugene Nielsen was born
to Eugene and Margaret (Pond) Nielsen on August 10, 1952 in Council
Bluffs, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at the Altamont Baptist
Church in rural Harlan, Iowa. Wayne attended the Avoca Community Schools
throughout his entire school career, graduating with the class of 1970
and being named a State of Iowa Scholar that year. He went on to attend
Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, being admitted "with recognition"
and majoring in Agricultural Engineering. After receiving his Bachelor
of Science degree in 1974, he started farming in Fairview Township,
seven miles northeast of Avoca, Iowa. Wayne was instrumental in
initiating many conservation practices in his farming career.
On January 20, 1979, Wayne
was united in marriage to Janelle Drake of Walnut, Iowa. They raised two
children, a daughter Renea and a son Curtis. Wayne didn’t like to throw
anything away, always saying that you might need it later. He proved his
point when he used those types of items to build a dune buggy with
Curtis from scratch.
Wayne continued to live on
the farm with his family until his illness and death on November 27,
2006. He had attained the age of 54 years, 3 months, and 17 days. Wayne
is survived by his wife Janelle of Avoca, Iowa, his children Renea
Nielsen of Seattle, Washington, and Curtis Nielsen of Ames, Iowa, his
parents, Eugene and Margaret Nielsen of Harlan, Iowa, one sister Diane
and her husband Dan Kenney of Council Bluffs, Iowa, one brother Gary and
his wife Leslie Nielsen of Avoca, Iowa, nieces, nephews, other family
members, and many friends.
A Celebration of Life was
held on Friday, December 1, 2006. Pastor Dave Swinton officiated the
10:30 AM service at the First United Methodist Church in Harlan, Iowa.
Serving as casket bearers were Jason Kenney, Philip McCarthy, Calvin
Nielsen, Simon Nielsen, Ethan Nielsen, and Larry Madsen. Interment was
at the Monroe Township Cemetery in Rural Walnut, Iowa, with honorary
casket bearers Sara Allen, Sydney Galligan, Sonya Nielsen, Terry Hamdorf,
Bob Edwards, and John Edwards.
Milo D. Nordby - Age 74
Milo
Dean Nordby, the son of Reinhard and Lilly Larson Nordby, was born on June
22, 1930 on a farm near Irwin, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at St.
Paul’s Lutheran Church in Irwin, Iowa. Milo attended country school in the
Irwin area while continuing to farm.
On
December 19, 1951, Milo was united in marriage to Delores Petersen at the
Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville, Iowa. From this union three
daughters were born: Pam, Patty, and Penny. Milo and Delores farmed near
Irwin, Harlan, and Jacksonville areas until 1985. From 1985 to 2004, Milo
was employed at the Harlan Golf and Country Club. He was a member of the
Bethlehem Lutheran Church and loved his tractors and cattle.
Milo
died on Saturday, March 12, 2005 at the Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn,
Iowa having attained the age of seventy-four years, eight months, and twenty
days. In addition to his parents, Milo was preceded in death my his
daughter, Penny; two brothers: Marvin and Vernan; a sister, Igleedtis
Nordby.
He is survived by his wife,
Delores, his daughters: Pam and her husband Tom Fusselman of Harlan and
Patty and her husband Carey Ballou of Exira; six grandchildren; five
great-grandchildren; three sisters: Garnett Axland of Irwin, Norma and her
husband Ja Vaine Mitten of Hamilton, Missouri and Virginia (Kay) and her
husband Richard Madsen of Lincoln, Nebraska; one brother, Robert Nordby of
Omaha Nebraska, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services were held on
Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at 10:30 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in
Jacksonville, Iowa with Rev. Ron Rasmussen as the clergy. Honorary casket
bearers were Henry Olson, Perry Kelly, Lester Hass, Jim Kjergaard, Todd
Larsen and Darrell Christensen. Serving as casket bearers were Trista
Throlson, Robert Jessen, Clint Jessen, Dustin Fusselman, Jason Fusselman and
Colt Ballou. Interment was held in Oak Hill Cemetery in Irwin, Iowa.
